Interactive Session with Dr. Sankar Bhattacharya on "What to do with end-of-life plastics and tyres - Fuel, Monomer, or Hydrogen”, 6th January 2023, The Bengal Chamber premises


The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized an Interactive Session with Dr. Sankar Bhattacharya, Professor, Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Monash University, Australia on "What to do with end-of-life plastics and tyres - Fuel, Monomer, or Hydrogen” on 6th January 2023 at The Bengal Chamber premises.

The presentation by Dr. Bhattacharya was on the advances in thermo-catalytic processing of waste plastics and tyres towards the possible products, challenges existing, reactor type for larger scale operation, the economics of thermo-catalytic processing and plants that currently exist worldwide at different scales of operation.
Mr. Gautam Ray, President Designate and Chairperson, Energy Environment and Water Committee, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Executive Director (HR & Admin.) – CESC Limited & President (HR) – Power Group, RPSG welcomed the participants and Members of the Energy, Environment and Water Committee of The Chamber and delivered the Welcome Address. 

Dr. Sudipta De, Member of the Energy, Environment and Water Committee of The Bengal Chamber and Professor, Mechanical Engineering, Department, Jadavpur University gave brief introduction of Dr. Sankar Bhattacharya and shared his observation for the discussion.

Mr. Deb A Mukherjee, Past President, The Bengal Chamber and Managing Director, Cenergist Energy Private Limited and Mr. Sourav Daspatnaik, Special Invitee, Managing Committee, The Bengal Chamber and Managing Director, Swach Environment Pvt Ltd also attended the Session.

Industry bodies like Exide Industries Ltd, Haldia Water Services Pvt Ltd., MCPI Private Limited, GAIL (India) Limited, Andrew Yule & Co. Ltd., Bengal Gas Company Limited, Berger Paints India Limited, CESC Limited and members of the EEW Bengal Committee were present.

New technologies and innovations will help in creating waste-to-energy. 

This is where industry-academia connect may be established. Advance research may help industries in adopting newer technologies and products.
