Nursing Conclave: “Empowering Nurses on Clinical Practice”, 30th May 2023, The Bengal Chamber premises
The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a Nursing Conclave, Theme: “Empowering Nurses on Clinical Practice” on 30th May, 2023 in the Williamson Magor Hall, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Opening Session was started with the welcome address by Ms. Angana Guha Roy Chowdhury, Assistant Director General, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Theme Address was deliberated by Ms. Doli Biswas, Member − Health Committee, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry & Chief Nursing Officer, Fortis Hospital Anandapur. The Chief Guest of the Conclave was Dr. Siddhartha Neogi, Director of Health Services, Government of West Bengal and Special Guest was Dr. Subhrojyoti Bhowmick, Clinical Director – Academics & Research, Peerless Hospital & B. K. Roy Research Centre. The Opening Session was concluded with lamp lighting.
Plenary Session I was chaired by Ms. Smriti Mani, Ex− Professor and Ex Principal of Medical College Hospital, Ex− OSD Nursing, Nursing Directorate, Government of West Bengal. The distinguished Speakers of the Session were Ms. Banrishisha Basaiawmoit, Quality Nurse, Fortis Hospital Anandapur, Mr. Anju George Thomson, Nursing Superintendent, Medica Superspeciality Hospital and Ms. Shampa Gupta, Principal, West Bank Hospital and College of Nursing. The topics of the Session were creating empowering conditions for Nurses with workplace autonomy at the bed side patient's care, how healthcare leaders could be guided by strengths−based nursing and healthcare leadership for clinical practice and empowering Post Graduate Nurses for clinical practice.
Plenary Session I was followed by a Clinical Session on Empowering Nurses in Safe Patient Handling and Early Mobility by Ms. Pritha Sarkar, GM − Clinical − North India and East India, Arjo Huntleigh Healthcare India Pvt Ltd.
Ms. Madhukari Ray, Nursing Director − Eastern Region, Apollo Group, chaired the Plenary Session II. Reacting Vs Responding: Does it going to make difference at the clinical scenario? Clinical hazards and how to overcome the challenges and communication is the key to reduce errors in clinical practice were the topics of the Session. The distinguished speakers were Ms. Doli Biswas, Member − Health Committee, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry & Chief Nursing Officer, Fortis Hospital Anandapur, Ms. Kasturi Mondal, Principal, RTIICS College of Nursing and Ms. Arpita Mandal, Chief of Nursing, INK Hospital.
Plenary Session II was followed by Live Demonstration of a product by Arjo Huntleigh Healthcare India Pvt Ltd.
Empowering Nurses on a) Ethical dilemma in bed side nursing b) Medication safety c) Blood transfusion safety d) Medico Legal issues in clinical practice e) Nursing assessment and prioritizing care how to improve and empower Nurses f) Enhancing safety culture through incident reporting g) Bundle care: how to empower Nurses were discussed in the Plenary Session III. The session was chaired by Ms. Doli Biswas, Member− Health Committee, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry & Chief Nursing Officer, Fortis Hospital Anandapur and the distinguished speakers were Ms. Mohua Maity, Nursing Superintendent, Calcutta Heart Clinic & Hospital, Ms. Vidya Maskar, Chief Nursing Officer, IQ City Medical College, Ms. Rajkumari Laxmi Devi, Senior Nursing Educator, Fortis Hospital, Ms. Paulami Chowdhury, Senior Nursing Superintendent, Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals Limited, Ms. Puspa Ghosh, Principal, Jagannath Gupta Institute of Nursing Science, Ms. Bidisha Basu, GM − Nursing, AMRI Hospitals, Dhakuria and Ms. Tinku Adhikary, Nursing Superintendent Quality Control, Apollo Hospitals Kolkata.
Each Plenary Session was followed by Q/A Session with the audience. There were also stalls to promote the offerings by Linde India Ltd and Smith & Nephew. The Conclave was attended by close to 150 delegates.
