The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I) has taken an initiative named, “Enhancing Livelihood through Heritage Carnival” on 17th March 2023 at Army Institute of Management, Kolkata with an aim to promote livelihood to artisans by organizing B2C events and providing them the opportunity to sell their products. The idea was to introduce the concepts of branding and marketing skills, entrepreneurship and empowerment as well as engagements of the artisans with relevant students, stakeholders, and corporate members of The Chamber.

The programme was addressed by Ms. Reshmi Chatterjee, Co−Chairperson, The Heritage Committee, BCC&I; Ms. Baishali Dalmiya, Co−Chairperson, The Delhi Council, BCC&I; Mr. Jayanta Chakraborty, Chairperson Agriculture and Rural Development Committee, BCC&I; followed by sessions on Enhancing Leadership Skill by Ms. Kamalini Paul, Director, Paulson Hotel and Resorts Pvt. Ltd. (Hotel De Sovrani).

Mr. G M Kapur, Chairperson, The Heritage Committee, BCC&I conveyed, “Conservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage is as important as the conservation of Tangible Cultural Heritage. The Heritage Committee of the BCC&I is keen to protect and preserve dying crafts and provide a means of livelihood to the crafts persons by providing support to them for designing and marketing their products. We do hope our endeavor will assist them in their enterprises.”

Total 6 stalls were set up in the university premises, who sold various products like handicrafts, Kantha, Honey etc.

The programme was supported by Army Institute of Management, and Hotel De Sovrani. Exide supported us as a CSR partner by helping us to train the artisans on Marketing, Social Media promotion etc. The programme had participants from students, academicians, stakeholders, and corporate members of The Chamber.
