The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized 12th edition of its annual signature Technology Quiz − Inter− College Quiz Fest 2023, in association with Guru Nanak Institute of Technology of JIS Group, on 18th March 2023 at the campus of Guru Nanak Institute of Technology (157/F, Nilgunj Road, Panihati, Sodepur, Kolkata, West Bengal 700114).

Quizzes are the best knowledge sharing and engagement platforms for youths. With this intent and endeavour, the Chamber had embarked on this initiative to reenergize youths (who are the future torch bearers of not only business, economy and society but also of the nation) about Quizzing.

Mr. Auritro Chowdhury and Mr. Kinshuk Biswas were the Quiz Masters.

The Opening Session; Final Round and the Award Ceremony had been graced by the following dignitaries:

• Mr. Subhodip Ghosh, Director General, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry
• Ms. Nandini Bose Mukherjee, Regional Manager, State Bank of India
• Ms. Angana Guha Roy Chowdhury, Assistant Director, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry
• Dr. Santanu Kumar Sen, Principal, Gurunanak Institute of Technology
• Mr. Bidyut Majumder, GM− Business Development, JIS Group
• Mr. Angshuman Bhattacharya, CEO and Founder, SIBIA Analytics and Consulting Services PL
• Mr. Jayanta Kr. Saha, Founder and CEO, Softthink Intelligent Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and few others.

The participants, who had made the cut for the final rounds were:

• Heritage Institute of Technology
• IIT Kharagpur
• NIT Jamshedpur
• Gurunanak Institute of Technology and Assam University, Silchar
• UEM, Kolkata
• NIT Durgapur

Eventually, two teams from IIT Kharagpur stood out as Winners and First Runners Up respectively and NIT Jamshedpur stood out as the 2nd Runners Up.

The Winners had been awarded with a prize money of Rs. 30,000 along with trophy and medal. The 1st Runners Up were awarded with a prize money of Rs. 20,000 along with trophy and medal, while the Second Runners Up had been awarded with the prize money of Rs. 10,000 along with trophy and medal.

The Chamber has successfully organized this Technology Quiz in the previous years from 2009 to 2022 in which for the past 5 editions it has associated with JIS Group. While the theme for the Quiz is ‘Technology’, the questions covered a wide spectrum of interest areas — with each question having a Technology angle but not necessarily oriented to technical issues/processes.

The participants for this Quiz were Technology students in their Bachelors and/or Masters. More than 100 teams (200 students) from various Colleges of Bengal and Eastern India such as such as IIEST, IIMC, BIT Mesra, JU, Presidency University, NIT Durgapur, NIT Jamshedpur, Calcutta Institute of Technology, KIIT Bhubaneswar, Presidency University, Assam University, Silchar participated in this Quiz.

The Preliminary and the Final rounds were simultaneously streamed in social media− Facebook and YouTube which had wide coverage and engagements.
