The International Trade Committee of the Bengal Chamber organised the Online Workshop on Foreign Trade Policy 2023.

This Trade Policy was long awaited and when finally released was much in news as the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles launched the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023 which has come into effect from 1st April, 2023. This is a policy document which is based on continuity of time−tested schemes facilitating exports as well as a document which is nimble and responsive to the requirements of trade.

FTP 2023, announced on 31st March 2023, sets a $2 trillion target for exports of goods and services by 2030 with a shift of focus from “Export Incentives” to “Remission of Taxes” and entitlement-based regime. The Policy also aims at creating district hubs and facilitation measures for E−commerce activities.

In order to Critically analyse the potential of FTP 2023 in boosting India’s export competitiveness and making the country a key player in the global trade landscape and also to understand the implications of FTP and its procedures the Bengal Chamber arranged the workshop for the benefit of the Exporters and Importers.

The Faculty of the workshop was Mr. Sudhakar Kasture who is a Director of Helpline Impex Pvt. Ltd. and EXIM Institute (A Division of Helpline Impex Pvt. Ltd.), Mumbai & Partner of Generation Next Business Consulting. He is a renowned consultant and advisor to many National & Multinational Corporations, Commercial Banks etc.
