Workshop on IPR on the occasion of World IPR Day, 26th April 2023, The Bengal Chamber Premises
India has made significant progress in strengthening its IPR regime in recent years. The Indian government has implemented several measures to promote innovation and protect intellectual property, such as the establishment of specialized courts to handle IP cases, and the creation of a national IP policy. Additionally, India has made progress in patenting and trademark registration, and has improved its ranking on the Global Innovation Index.
By leveraging its IPR regime, India can attract foreign investment and stimulate domestic innovation. Strong intellectual property protection encourages innovation and investment by providing legal certainty and reducing the risks associated with the development and commercialization of new products and services. It also provides incentives for domestic companies to invest in research and development and to bring new products and services to market.
India has significant potential for innovation and entrepreneurship, and its large and growing market presents a significant opportunity for businesses. However, to fully realize this potential, India must continue to strengthen its IPR regime and promote innovation and entrepreneurship through policies that encourage research and development, protect intellectual property, and foster an environment that is conducive to innovation and entrepreneurship.
